Early Childhood

The River Forest Community Center provides a developmentally appropriate curriculum designed to encourage positive group interaction as well as foster individual growth. Our teachers thrive on creating a safe and fun learning environment through play in which children are encouraged to explore and develop their cognitive, language, social-intellectual, and motor skills.

Before & After School Programs

Kinder City & After School Adventurers (Kindergartners and 1st Graders)

Before and after school care is available for children in Kindergarten and 1st grade. Children will be actively involved in supervised recreational activities, including arts & crafts and sports & games. Snacks will be provided daily. Transportation is available to and from all River Forest Public Schools. Full-day options are available on half days and most school holidays.

Kruzin Krew Before & After School Program (2nd–7th Graders)

Kruzin Krew is an after-school program that provides safe, reliable care for children in grades 2nd and 7th. Kruzin Krew staff will lead supervised recreational activities, including sports & games and arts & crafts. Quiet time will also be provided for homework and relaxing with friends. A snack will be provided daily. Transportation is available to and from all River Forest Public Schools. Full-day options are available on half days and most school holidays.

Recreation Programs

RFCC offers a diverse range of recreational activities designed to promote mental and social well-being. Our programs are tailored to meet the needs of individuals of all ages and foster a community of fun. Participants can explore their artistic side through craft classes, workshops, and theater, igniting creativity and self-expression. Also, participants can engage in sports programs to enhance their physical health and vitality. We strive to create a welcoming environment where individuals can connect, share their experiences, and build meaningful relationships. 

Half-Day Summer Camps

Little Explorers (ages 3-4)

Come join the Little Explorers for Summer Fun! Participants will enjoy a variety of activities, including free play, art, music & movement, and large motor activities. The program ratio is 16 children to 2 RFCC Staff.

Breakfast Club for Parents/Caregivers and Tots (15 months - 2 years)

This camp is designed for parents/caregivers and tots to enjoy quality time together. Free play, art activities, and group time allow for a morning filled with opportunities for learning, exploring, and making new friends!

Summer Scene (1st - 8th grade)

Is your child attending... D90 summer school? The River Forest Community Center has limited spots available for bus transportation before and after D90 summer school. The bus will depart and return to The River Forest Community Center. When returning to the River Forest Community Center, participants will join the Adventure Camp or Urban Safari Camp. Campers need to bring their own non-refrigerated peanut/nut-free lunch and labeled water bottles.

Young Voyagers Camp

(3 years – Incoming 1st graders)
Destination Summer Fun! Children ages 3 through incoming 1st grade will enjoy art activities, sports & games, music & movement, water play, and field trips. A lunch and two snacks will be provided daily. All children must be three years old and toilet trained to attend the program. Camp fees include one t-shirt per session, daily lunches, snacks, and supplies. There will be no refunds for days absent. Extended day options available. 

Adventure Camp (Incoming 2nd-4th grade) / Urban Safari Camp (Incoming 5th-8th grade)

These wonderful camps provide fun opportunities each day. The camp will have organized games, arts and crafts, team sports, science experiments, nature, and more! All campers need to bring a peanut/nut-free lunch and a labeled water bottle. No daily rates. A completed application form must be submitted prior to enrollment.

Extended Care

The River Forest Community Center offers Extended Care for Adventure Camp and Urban Safari for campers who need supervised activities before and/or after regular camp hours. All children must be pre-registered at the Community Center. The Extended Care fee includes a daily snack at 4:30 pm, organized games, arts & crafts, gym time, low-key activities, and free play.
